  1. FWIW, I recently went through a pretty thorough study of the various positions from the CFSP site (because I frequently overthink things). In the course of doing so, I found that there is actually a pretty large number of unique positions (i.e., not just differentiated by slightly moving appendages). Of course, the final count depends to a certain extent on what is anatomically possibly for you (e.g., a very fit couple where the man is also well-endowed is going to have more options than heavy-set couple where the man is not also well-endowed), but by my count, there were 58 unique positions documented on CFSP with an additional 16 unique positions that might not be cataloged yet for a total of 74 potential positions. Within each of these position groups, as you said in the episode, different variations can result in significantly different experiences/sensations, but I was not aware that there was such a wide variety until very recently.

I mention this because I used to think that there wasn’t much point in trying new positions because as one book (I think it was from The Celebration of Sex by Rosenau, but I could be thinking of a different book) I read on the topic put it (paraphrasing here), there’s really only 4 or 5 positions, and the variations are essentially whether her toes are crossed or not. So, we tried all the positions he listed a few times, I came to the conclusion that there was only really one that consistently worked for us (missionary), and that’s what we did for a very long time. Eventually though, she got bored and ended up finding CFSP, which opened my eyes to a lot that we had been missing.

    1. Yeah, I think there are many more options than just four (and I think I read that same thing many years back and thought that wasn’t quite so), but as for whether they count as positions or not, it’s probably a semantics thing. We certainly did encourage couples to look through that site and our other resources and try various positioning to see what feels good!

      Thanks for the info. Blessings!
