You guys need to speak with my wife. Things are so different on her planet. Eye contact is FORBIDDEN, fortunately she puts her hand up between our faces so we don’t break the rules. Stallion style? A physical impossibility, the women of her planet cannot point their ladyparts in the right direction I guess, and there’s the 11th Commandment, Thou shalt not look at my butt.

Well, I don’t think I need to speak with your wife to know that she has some hangups here. It sounds like she’s really self-conscious about her body, about sexuality, about the vulnerability involved. It may take time and a gentle approach to convince her that she is safe, that sex is good, and that you love her body as it is. I wish instead I could snap fingers and make her alien self fully human, so to speak. Actually, she is fully human — which includes all the self-doubt many women carry with them as the result of teaching, observation, and experience they’ve been through before they reached the marriage bed. Little by little, we are doing our part to inform such women of the beauty of sexual intimacy, and helping you to do the same. Blessings! ~ J

Hi Dave, thank you for letting us in on some of these struggles. I’ve only been with my wife for 14 years but you pretty much described years 4 thru 10. I got the sense there was a lot of shame on her part and that while she understood that the “healthy” thing to do in marriage is to have sex, she was so closed off it felt like she was trying to make it not fun. I couldn’t help but take it personally. In 2016 I decided to write her a letter which started us on a journey for the last four years. It basically said I love you but the position you’re putting me in is not fair. What can we do together to fix it?
There has been tremendous improvement ever since, but the journey has been extremely slow.
