I think some wives over-extend themselves is when they see someone in need, they do it without questions. They don’t fill those needs without expectations.
It becomes a problem when wives is being manipulated or exploited to fill so many personal wants of others (being defined as needs) they end up not taking care of their own needs and become overwhelmed.
In our case, this went on for years as we couldn’t figure out what was really happening. We didn’t diagnose the fact that she was being manipulated or exploited until pressures and exhaustion began to mount.
I think you’re right that women often over-extend out of a generous heart. It’s so sad when that is taken advantage of, which it sometimes is. My approach of checking my calendar often gives me time to have a better perspective of whether that is happening or not. Chris
